Discover the Botanical Garden in Angers

Less than 3 km from the 3-star Hotel Le Progrès, the Jardin des Plantes is a veritable haven of greenery in the heart of Angers. This landscaped park, popular with both curious visitors and locals, invites you to stroll in a peaceful setting rich in history and nature.

The Jardin des Plantes in Angers: Witness to a Prestigious Botanical Past

Created in the 18th century, the Jardin des Plantes is the very first botanical garden in Angers.
At the time, it served as a study ground for botany students, trained by renowned professors from across Europe.
Thanks to exchanges between researchers and botanical gardens from around the world, the collections have expanded over the decades, while maintaining their scientific vocation.

A palette of plants that evolves with the seasons at the Jardin des Plantes in Angers

It's impossible to remain indifferent to the rich floral displays on offer throughout the year. Each season transforms the paths:
  • In summer, 25,000 annual and perennial plants blend harmoniously around a colorful theme.
  • In spring and winter, 20,000 pansies, primroses, and forget-me-nots brighten the beds, joined in spring by 12,000 bulbs (tulips, daffodils, etc.).
  • In autumn, more than 1,000 chrysanthemums complete the cycle in a warm atmosphere.

Collection Squares: A Tribute to Plants

Not far from the Saint-Samson Chapel, 16 4-square-meter squares and two larger 10-square-meter squares house exceptional plant collections.
Created in collaboration with passionate nurserymen, these spaces pay tribute to botanical diversity and horticultural expertise.

A Connected Exploration of Remarkable Trees

Want to learn more about the trees around you? Nine panels are located throughout the garden to highlight approximately 70 trees, identifiable by QR codes.
Simply scan them with your smartphone to access a wealth of botanical information.

Opening Hours
  • May 1st to August 31st: Closes at 8:30 pm.
